Southern exile
a blog from Doug McFall dealing with life in Lancaster, PA. I like to reflect on the Christian faith and culture as well as other issues.

once and done?
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just give things or people once to the Lord and be done with it?
But often, I find, I have to keep giving things to him over and over again.
Fortunately, he delights in us, his children and never tires of us bringing the same concerns.
It’s part of what helps us to walk by faith and not by sight---and reminders that we are finite to keep us humble..
That’s why it’s so deadly and scary for someone to have much pride which is unchecked!

experimentation
Since I'm in a season of vocational transition, I thought I would try some experiemtal blogging in addition to the great effort I need to exert in my ongoing quest to find a new viable place of employment. So, I'm trying to save the template and I made a name change...here's towards a new beginning.
It's never too late or so I've been told...

St. Barnabas Day
I was looking at an online liturgy site and realized that today is the day the Church commemorates St. Barnabas. I thought of my dear friend, who is a Barnabas to me.
So, I sent him an email with this collect in memory of the saint:
Grant, O God, that we may follow the example of your faithful servant Barnabas, who, seeking not his own renown but the wellbeing of your Church, gave generously of his life and substance for the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
